The Battle of Mogadishu, or 'Black Hawk Down' as most folks know it, was a desperate, drag out, fight-to-the-finish defense of two downed helicopters in Somalia from October 3-4, 1993. It was a hard-fought battle that lasted through the night and into the next morning, incurring more casualties than any U.S. battle since the Vietnam War.
Since then, there's been documentaries, news coverage, a feature Hollywood film, and countless books written about the events that took place that night. Fortunately for us, few know it better than DELTA Force Operator Tom Satterly, who was there, on the ground, when it all went to hell.
